A shelf that fits. Exactly.
Need an extra shelf for your kitchen, pantry, wardrobe or laundry cabinet?
We cut custom cabinet shelves from 16mm white HMR melamine — the material your existing shelves are made from. Precision cut to your dimensions. Front edge banded. Ready same day or next.
Most people don't need a new kitchen. They just need one more shelf.
Whether a shelf is sagging, missing, or the cabinet just came with fewer than you needed — this is the fastest fix. No tradesman visit. No renovation. No waiting weeks for a quote. Just a shelf, cut right, ready fast.
What's included
Every shelf is manufactured in our Canberra workshop on a precision CNC machine. We don't cut by hand — tolerances are exact.
-
The industry standard for Australian domestic cabinetry. Moisture resistant. Wipes clean. Matches virtually every kitchen, pantry, bathroom, and laundry cabinet built in the last 20 years.
-
Machine-applied edge banding on the front face for a clean, factory finish. Looks like it came with the cabinet. All four edges available on request.
-
Add shelf pins to your order and the shelf drops straight in. No drilling, no tools.
It will match your existing cabinets.
White 16mm HMR is the board used in the vast majority of Australian kitchen, bathroom, and laundry cabinetry — including Kaboodle flat-pack, Polytec, Laminex, IKEA SEKTION, and most builder-grade installations. If your existing shelves are white melamine, a new shelf from us will be visually indistinguishable.
WIDTH
DEPTH
How to measure
This is the part most people overthink. It's two numbers.
If you have an existing shelf in the cabinet
Remove a shelf and measure its width and depth. Order to those exact dimensions. Your new shelf will match perfectly.
If there's no existing shelf to measure from
Measure the inside of the cabinet — wall to wall for width, back wall to front opening for depth — then apply the standard clearances:
WIDTH
Measure: inside wall to inside wall
Subtract: 3 mm
Order this dimension.
Example: 600 mm cabinet → order 597 mm shelf
DEPTH
Measure: back wall to front opening
Subtract: 10 mm
Order this dimension.
Example: 350 mm deep cabinet → order 340 mm shelf
*The 3 mm clearance allows the shelf to slide in without binding. The 10 mm depth reduction keeps the shelf recessed from the door opening — the standard used in Australian joinery.
FAQ
Common questions
-
In most cases, yes. White 16mm HMR is the board used in virtually all Australian domestic cabinetry — kitchens, pantries, bathrooms, laundries, and built-ins. If your existing shelves are white melamine, this will be the same material and will look factory-fitted.
-
Yes. Standard supply includes the front edge only — that's the face you see when the door is open. If you need all four edges banded (for example, a shelf used in an open-back unit or display cabinet), just ask. There's a small additional cost.
-
Only if your cabinet doesn't have them in the right position, or if you're adding a shelf to a new location. If you're replacing a shelf that already sits on existing pins, you don't need new ones. If you're adding a shelf from scratch, add pins to your order.
-
Collect from our Canberra workshop. Local delivery available — ask when you order.
-
We manufacture same day or next day in most cases. If you contact us in the morning, the shelf is typically ready by end of day or the following morning.
-
Yes. There's no additional setup cost per shelf — the price per shelf stays consistent. Most customers order 2–4 at a time.
-
We're based in Canberra, ACT. The standard is customer pickup from our Mitchell workshop. Local delivery is available — ask when you enquire and we'll sort something out.
-
Currently we stock white HMR as standard. If you have a coloured or timber-look interior and know the colour get in touch — we may be able to source a matching board, but this isn't a guaranteed service and is quiet costly as it requires us to order an entire sheet of material and roll of edge tape.
-
16mm is the standard for virtually all Australian domestic cabinetry. If you genuinely have a cabinet that takes a different thickness, contact us before ordering and we'll advise.
-
Two shelves — the most common order for a kitchen or pantry cabinet — comes to around $77 all in, including shelf pins if needed. That works out to $35 per shelf.
If you're ordering more, the cost per shelf comes down. Most of the work is in the setup — once the machine is running your job, adding shelves to the same order is efficient, and we pass that on in the price. Get in touch with your measurements and quantity and we'll give you a number straight away.
